Corydoras Pantanalensis C005 (PO)

Introducing Corydoras Pantanalensis C005 — a striking addition to a peaceful freshwater aquarium. Named for the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil and Bolivia, this species embodies resilience in a landscape defined by seasonal floods and variable water chemistry. When you choose this pair, you’re getting two of the larger Corydoras known for their bold presence on the tank bottom.

Origin and natural habitat

From the Pantanal, a vast marsh system spanning roughly 54 to 81 thousand square miles, where annual rainfall swings mean water conditions can shift. This natural history translates into a fish that tolerates pH and hardness fluctuations better than more sensitive species, while still thriving in a stable setup.

Key advantages of Corydoras Pantanalensis C005

• Impressive size for a Corydoras: males toward 75 mm SL; females can run slightly larger, up to around 80 mm SL.
• Water-parameter resilience: adapted to the Pantanal’s wide swings, making them reliable in tanks with moderate fluctuations.
• Balanced water chemistry: ideal neutral pH around 7.0 and general hardness in the 3–9 dGH range.
• Pair-inclusive packaging: a two-fish set designed to establish social dynamics and ease introduction into a new tank.

Tank setup and care considerations

These Corydoras bring a bold silhouette to the bottom of the aquarium. To support their wellbeing, maintain a neutral to mildly softened environment with a stable pH near 7.0 and dGH between 3 and 9. Because of their size, ensure the tank provides adequate horizontal space and enrichment opportunities (hiding spots, gentle currents). While they tolerate parameter changes better than many, a consistent routine will help keep them active and feeding confidently.

Who this pair is ideal for

• Aquarium hobbyists seeking a larger, showy Corydoras to balance mid-to-top-dwelling species.
• Keepers with medium-to-large community tanks who want a resilient, peaceful bottom-dweller.
• Collectors interested in showcasing Pantanal natives and their unique adaptation to floodplain environments.

Practical tips to get the most from your Corydoras Pantanalensis C005 pair

• Introduce the pair to a well-established tank to reduce stress from sudden changes in water chemistry.
• Provide a mix of open swimming areas and sheltered zones to mirror their natural habitat.
• Monitor the water chemistry regularly for pH and hardness, aiming for the target range while appreciating their tolerance for fluctuations.
