Product Description

Apistogramma viejita is a beautiful and highly sought-after dwarf cichlid admired for its intense coloration and graceful body shape.

Native to the river systems of Colombia, this species features striking blends of red, orange, yellow, and iridescent blue that become even more vibrant under proper aquarium lighting.

This species is well-known for its relatively peaceful temperament, making it suitable for planted aquariums and calm community tanks. Males grow larger with extended dorsal and caudal fins and display brighter, more dramatic colors, while females are smaller with softer tones and develop rich yellow coloration during breeding periods.

Apistogramma viejita thrives in soft to moderately hard water with slightly acidic to neutral pH. A natural-style aquascape with driftwood, leaf litter, caves, and dense aquatic plants helps them feel secure and encourages natural behavior.

An excellent choice for aquarists who want a colorful, manageable centerpiece fish with fascinating social behavior and strong parental instincts.
