Alternanthera lilacina is one of the nicest red background or midground plants. It adds a striking contrast to green plants.

To keep the best colour

  • High light: 8–10 hours daily.
  • CO₂: Highly recommended 
  • Fertilizer: Regular NPK and trace elements, especially iron.
  • Substrate: Nutrient-rich aquasoil or root tabs.
  • Pruning: Trim the tops when they reach your desired height and replant the cuttings to create a fuller bush.
