Caridina Denneril Red Spot (Sulawesi Shrimp)

Caridina dennerli (commonly known as the Cardinal Shrimp or Sulawesi Red Spot) is a miniature freshwater shrimp endemic to Lake Matano, Sulawesi, famously recognized for its striking deep red body adorned with vivid white dots and distinctive white front legs. Growing only up to 1.5–2.5 cm, this peaceful yet shy species thrives in colonies and relies heavily on rocky hiding spaces. Due to its unique ancient lake origin, it is a delicate shrimp that strictly requires specialized care, including warm water (26–29°C), an alkaline pH environment (7.5–8.5), and a continuous supply of natural biofilm and algae as its primary diet.
