Product Description

*Tank Requirements*
- *Minimum Tank Size*: 300 liters (79 gallons) to accommodate a group of 5 or more Altifrons, providing ample space for swimming and territorial behavior.
- *Substrate*: Deep, soft, sandy substrate (at least 2-3 inches deep) to mimic their natural habitat and prevent damage to their mouths and gills.
- *Decorations*: Rocks, bogwood, and other hardscape features to provide hiding spots, visual barriers, and create a natural environment. Securely place these decorations to prevent accidental shifting.
- *Filtration*: Efficient filtration system capable of processing the tank's total volume at least 5 times per hour, maintaining pristine water quality.

*Water Parameters*
- *Temperature*: 26-32°C (79-89°F), replicating their native Amazon Basin habitat.
- *pH*: Slightly acidic to neutral pH, reflecting their natural environment.
- *Water Hardness*: Moderate hardness levels, with regular water changes to maintain optimal water quality.

*Tankmates and Social Structure*
- *Grouping*: Keep Altifrons in groups of 5 or more to promote social interaction and reduce aggression.
- *Tankmates*: Choose peaceful, similarly-sized fish that won't compete for food or harass the Altifrons. Avoid small fish that may be seen as prey.
- *Social Dynamics*: Monitor social interactions within the group, as Altifrons can exhibit territorial behavior and occasional aggression.

*Breeding and Care*
- *Breeding Tank*: Provide a separate breeding tank with flat, smooth surfaces (slate or ceramic tiles) for egg deposition and a sandy substrate.
- *Mouthbrooding*: Female Altifrons incubate eggs and care for young in their mouth until they can swim.
- *Diet*: Offer sinking foods, such as small pellets or live/frozen foods, to accommodate their natural foraging behavior.¹
*Additional Tips*
- *Regular Water Changes*: Perform regular water changes (10-20% weekly) to maintain optimal water quality and prevent water parameter fluctuations.

- *Monitor Behavior*: Observe your Altifrons' behavior and adjust tank conditions, decorations, or tankmates as needed to promote a peaceful environment.

- *Avoid Overcrowding*: Ensure sufficient space and hiding spots to reduce stress and aggression.
