Product Description

Add a vivid red focal point and lively schooling movement to your freshwater aquarium with Sudadanio Retiarius. These fast, inquisitive fish are happiest in a group, where their activity brings a planted tank to life.

The red-orange colour form is associated with western populations, while other localities may show green or blue hues. Keeping collection details with your fish can help breeders and colour collectors preserve distinct lineages.

  • Group size: Keep 6–8 together to encourage natural activity and help reduce stress.
  • Aquarium size: A 20-gallon (75 L) or larger tank gives the school room to swim.
  • Water conditions: Aim for a stable 23–25°C temperature and pH of about 6.5–7.5; soft to moderately hard water supports colour expression.
  • Tank setup: Use a well-filtered, moderately bright planted aquarium with gentle to moderate current.
  • Feeding: Offer high-quality flakes or micro-pellets, with occasional daphnia, brine shrimp or bloodworms for variety.
  • Tank mates and care: Pair with peaceful small fish such as glowlight tetras, celestial danios or ember tetras. Avoid long-nosed or fin-nipping species, and maintain water quality with regular testing and weekly 20–30% partial changes.

Rich red tones develop with good water quality, balanced feeding and low-stress surroundings; poor conditions can dull colour and activity. Watch the school weave through aquarium plants, adding flashes of colour to your daily view.
