As with other freshwater snails, Rabbit Snail care starts with keeping them in a healthy, stable and established aquarium, preferably with substrate on the fine side. Its important to keep Ammonia and Nitrite levels at 0 ppm, and Nitrate levels in check as well. As with other freshwater snails, be careful with medications and plant fertilizers, as snails may be sensitive to them. And this is especially true with Copper. Copper can be harmful or fatal to Rabbit Snails.
Water Conditions:
Rabbit Snails thrive in freshwater aquariums with a pH range of 7.0 to 8.0.
Maintain a water temperature between 75°F and 82°F (24°C to 28°C).
Ensure proper water filtration and regular water changes to maintain optimal water quality.
Moderate water flow is ideal, as excessive flow can stress the snails.
Tank Mates:
Rabbit Snails are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of fish and invertebrates.
Avoid keeping them with aggressive or fin-nipping species that may harm the snails or damage their delicate shells.
Compatible tank mates include peaceful community fish like tetras, guppies, rasboras, and dwarf cichlids.
They can also live harmoniously with peaceful invertebrates like shrimp and small-sized snails.
Feeding Habit:
Rabbit Snails are omnivorous scavengers that feed on a variety of organic matter in the aquarium.
They graze on algae, decaying plant matter, leftover fish food, and detritus.
