Winemiller's Eartheater (Geophagus Winemilleri)

Geophagus winemilleri is a stunning, medium–large eartheater cichlid known for its graceful profile and vibrant colors. The body typically shows shimmering blues, greens, and golds, with vertical dark bars and iridescent spangling across the flanks.

The fins—especially the dorsal and caudal—often display red, yellow, or turquoise highlights, giving the fish a refined, elegant appearance. Adult size usually reaches 20–25 cm.

This species performs the classic Geophagus “sand-sifting” behavior, taking mouthfuls of substrate and filtering out food particles—one of its most charming traits.
