BioDigest is made up of nitrifying, nitrate-reducing bacteria capable of converting ammonia into nitrites, nitrites into nitrates, and nitrates into nitrogen. Biological filtration quickly kicks in, thanks to the nitrifying bacteria namely nitrosamines European and nitrobacteria winogradskyi.

Each 1ml ampoule contains 50 billion multi-strain bacteria that work in tandem with each other strain. Some are capable of biosynthesizing nitrate reducing enzymes in aerobic conditions.

Water is effectively purified, nitrates and phosphates effectively reduced thus prevents the spread of filamentous algae.
