Product Description

Albino koi guppy: ruby-eyed, full-red phantom, gliding like a drop of molten coral.

Discover the stunning Guppy Albino Koi Full Red, a vibrant livebearer ideal for peaceful community tanks. Hardy, colourful, easy to care for beginners.

  • Water Conditions: The Guppy Albino Koi Full Red thrives in stable, slightly alkaline water that mirrors its natural tropical habitat. Maintain a temperature between 22°C and 28°C (72°F–82°F), with 24°C–26°C being the sweet spot for long-term health. pH should remain between 6.8 and 7.8, and general hardness (dGH) between 8 and 18. Because this is an albino strain, sudden shifts in water chemistry can be more stressful than for standard guppies, so consistency is key. Ammonia and nitrite must always read 0 ppm, and nitrate should be kept below 20 ppm through regular partial water changes. Use a reliable filter with gentle flow — strong currents exhaust these small fish. Perform 20–30% water changes weekly, always using a dechlorinator. Avoid copper-based medications, as albino guppies are particularly sensitive to heavy metals.
  • Suitable Tank Mates: This peaceful livebearer does best in a calm community aquarium. Excellent companions include small, non-aggressive species such as neon tetras, ember tetras, harlequin rasboras, chili rasboras, corydoras catfish, otocinclus, kuhli loaches, and peaceful livebearers like platies and mollies. Invertebrates such as cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, and nerite snails are also safe. Avoid fin-nippers like tiger barbs, serpae tetras, and some danios, as they will harass the guppy’s flowing tail. Do not house with large or predatory fish — angelfish, most cichlids, large gouramis, and catfish like pictus cats will eat guppies. If keeping multiple guppies, maintain a ratio of one male to two or three females to prevent stress and exhaustion. Multiple males can be kept together, but they will constantly display and compete, so a larger tank with plenty of visual barriers is recommended.
  • Feeding Habits: Guppies are omnivorous surface and mid-water feeders with small mouths and fast metabolisms. Offer a high-quality staple of micro pellets or crushed flake food two to three times daily, feeding only what they can consume within two to three minutes. To bring out the best colour and support breeding, supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, and cyclops. These albino koi full red guppies also benefit from vegetable matter — spirulina flakes, blanched spinach, zucchini, or cucumber — which aids digestion and prevents constipation. Pregnant females need extra protein, so increase the frequency of live or frozen foods during gestation. Overfeeding is the most common mistake; it leads to bloating, swim bladder issues, and poor water quality. Fast the fish one day per week to help clear their digestive tract.
  • Care Requirements: A minimum tank size of 40 litres (10 gallons) is suitable for a small trio, but 60–80 litres (15–20 gallons) or more is far better for stable water parameters and room to swim. Set up a heavily planted aquarium with floating plants like frogbit or water sprite to diffuse overhead lighting — albino guppies have reduced melanin and can be sensitive to intense, direct light. Provide gentle filtration, a heater to maintain constant temperature, and plenty of hiding spots among Java moss, hornwort, and driftwood. Acclimatise new arrivals slowly using the drip method over 45–60 minutes. Quarantine any new fish for at least two weeks before adding them to the main tank. Keep the water clean, avoid overcrowding, and monitor for common issues like fin rot, ich, and velvet. With proper care, these guppies live two to three years.
  • Breeding and Health Notes: As livebearers, Guppy Albino Koi Full Red are prolific and easy to breed. Females can store sperm for several months and will drop batches of 20–50 fry every four to six weeks. To raise fry successfully, provide dense floating plants or a dedicated breeding trap so the young can hide from adults. If you do not want to be overrun, keep only males or separate the sexes. Health-wise, albino strains can be more prone to eye sensitivity and stress-related issues, so maintain a calm environment with dappled shade. Watch for clamped fins, lethargy, or loss of appetite — early signs of disease. Treat promptly in a quarantine tank using medications safe for scaleless fish and albinos. Avoid copper-based remedies. A varied diet, pristine water, and stable temperature are your best defences against illness. Regular observation and quick action will keep your Guppy Albino Koi Full Red thriving and vividly coloured for years.
