The Black Plakat Betta (Betta splendens) is a captivating freshwater fish known for its striking black coloration and impressive finnage.

These Bettas are highly sought after by enthusiasts for their elegance and intriguing personality.

Water Conditions:

✦Temperature: Maintain the water temperature between 78°F and 82°F (25°C - 28°C) for optimal health and activity.

✦pH Level: Keep the pH level slightly acidic to neutral, ideally between 6.5 and 7.5.

✦Water Hardness: Black Plakat Bettas prefer moderately soft to moderately hard water with a range of 5-15 dGH.

✦Provide efficient filtration and perform regular water changes to maintain excellent water quality.

Tank Mates:

✦Black Plakat Bettas are best housed alone or in a species-only setup.

✦Avoid housing them with other Betta splendens, as they may exhibit aggressive behavior towards their own species.

✦If desired, you can consider keeping them with peaceful, non-fin-nipping tank mates such as small rasboras or tetras in a larger community aquarium.

Feeding Habits:

✦Black Plakat Bettas are carnivorous and primarily feed on live or frozen foods.

✦Offer them a varied diet consisting of high-quality Betta pellets, freeze-dried or frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms, daphnia, and small insect larvae.

✦Feed them small portions multiple times a day, ensuring they consume the food within a few minutes.

✦Monitor their feeding habits and adjust the quantity accordingly to prevent overfeeding and maintain water quality.

Care Requirements:

✦Provide a well-decorated aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and plants to create a comfortable environment for the Black Plakat Betta.

✦Maintain excellent water quality through regular water changes (approximately 25% every 1-2 weeks) and efficient filtration.

✦Test the water parameters regularly to ensure they remain within the suitable range for the Black Plakat Betta.

✦Monitor their behavior for signs of stress, disease, or aggression, and promptly address any issues that arise.

✦Provide moderate lighting in the tank, as Black Plakat Bettas appreciate a well-lit environment.

✦Handle them with care during maintenance, as they can be sensitive to rough handling.

In conclusion, Black Plakat Betta are all captivating and stunning additions to any aquarium. By providing the ideal water conditions, selecting compatible tank mates, offering a varied diet, and maintaining a clean and stimulating environment, you can ensure the health, beauty, and active behavior of these fish.
