Sundadanio axelrodi is one of the smallest fish in the hobby, barely 2 cm long, with a shimmering blue-green body that seems to glow under the right light. It comes from the blackwater peat swamps of Borneo and nearby islands, the same kind of tea-coloured, acidic habitat found in Malaysia's own peat-swamp forests.
It's a fish for nano-tank fans who enjoy getting the details right. FishyHub lists axelrodi from Malaysian sellers when available, with prices in RM. One note before you browse: "axelrodi" is also part of the scientific name of the cardinal tetra, so check that a listing is for Sundadanio if that's what you want.
Axelrodi are sometimes sold as "blue axelrodi rasbora" or "green axelrodi", depending on the colour form and collection area. Males show the strongest colour and spar with each other in small, harmless displays. Females are plainer and rounder. They are shy, slow feeders, and they only show their best colour in dim, stained water with plenty of cover.

Malaysia's soft tap water is a good starting point for this kind of tank. Treat it with anti klorin, and let the leaves and wood do the rest. Change water in small amounts so the conditions don't shift suddenly.
Keep them only with other tiny, gentle fish: chili rasboras, other Boraras species, small pencilfish or pygmy corydoras. Shrimp are fine too. Avoid bettas in very small tanks, as well as fast or boisterous fish that will outcompete them for food.
Axelrodi are often wild-caught and arrive in small numbers, so stock and prices in RM vary. On each listing, check:
Tiny fish are sensitive to temperature in transit, so self-collect or ask the seller how they pack, especially for deliveries to Sabah and Sarawak. Where possible, choose sellers who source responsibly.
Ya.
It's often sold as one and is a close relative, but it belongs to its own genus, Sundadanio.
Yes. They are too small to bother adult shrimp and make good companions in a shrimp tank.
