Discus (Symphysodon Tarzoo 'Tefé Red Spotted Green')

Symphysodon Tarzoo “Tefé Red Spotted Green” brings the rounded silhouette, calm movement, and distinctive red-spotted green coloration associated with a standout discus display fish. Its deliberate swimming style adds a tranquil focal point to a carefully planned freshwater aquarium, while its social nature makes group keeping an important part of long-term care.

Recommended Aquarium Setup

Keep this discus in a group of 4–6 in a 75–125 gallon aquarium or larger, providing open swimming space and gentle shelter from mild plantings or driftwood. Use filtration that maintains clean, stable water without producing strong currents; sponge prefilters or softly circulating canister filtration are suitable approaches.

• Temperature: 82–86°F (28–30°C)
• pH: 6.0–7.5
• Water hardness: soft to moderately soft, approximately 1–6 dKH
• Water changes: 25–40% weekly, with more frequent maintenance for higher bioloads

Feeding and Compatibility

Offer 2–3 small meals daily using a varied diet of quality discus pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Finely chop or soften larger frozen foods, and monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate to keep conditions consistent.

This peaceful discus is best housed with gentle community fish that share similar warm, soft-water requirements. Peaceful tetras and rasboras can be suitable companions when they do not outcompete it for food. Slow, drip-style acclimation helps reduce stress when introducing the fish to a new aquarium.
