Geophagus sp. "Red Head Tapajos"

The Geophagus Tapajos, known commonly as the Red Head Tapajos, is a vibrantly colored fish found in the Rio Tapajos within the Amazon River basin of South America. The Geophagus Tapajos’ name comes from the Greek word geo, meaning ‘earth’, and phagus,meaning ‘to eat’. This species is a rare beauty among aquarium hobbyists, as it is only found in a limited region of the world.

✦ Tank Size : 50 gallons( can grow up to 10 inches in length), with sand or fine gravel substrate,hiding spots with rocks, caves, & driftwood. 

✦ Water temperature : between 75-82°F (24-28°C)

✦ pH level around 6.0-7.5. 

✦Use a quality filtration system and perform regular water changes to maintain water quality.

✦High-quality pellets, flakes, frozen, and live foods. ✦Monitor water parameters regularly and ensure compatibility with tank mates.
