  • pH Level: Maintain a slightly acidic to neutral pH level between 6.0 and 7.5.
  • Water Hardness: They prefer moderately hard to slightly soft water with a hardness of 5 to 12 dGH.
  • Filtration: Ensure efficient filtration to maintain water quality and provide adequate oxygenation.

Tank Mates:

  • Peaceful Community Fish: L240 Plecos are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of fish species, including peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and corydoras catfish.
  • Avoid Aggressive Fish: It's best to avoid keeping them with aggressive or territorial species that may stress or harm them.

Feeding Habit:

  • Omnivorous Diet: L240 Plecos are omnivores with a preference for plant-based foods. Offer them a variety of high-quality sinking pellets, wafers, and vegetables like zucchini, spinach, and cucumber.
  • Supplement with Protein: Provide occasional protein-rich foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia to meet their dietary needs.

Care:

  • Hiding Places: Provide ample hiding places in the aquarium with caves, driftwood, or rock formations, as L240 Plecos appreciate secure retreats.
  • Substrate: Use sand or fine gravel as the substrate to mimic their natural environment and prevent any damage to their delicate undersides.
  • Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended for a single L240 Pleco. Larger tanks are necessary for multiple individuals or if housing with other fish.
  • Water Changes: Perform regular partial water changes of about 20% every 1-2 weeks to maintain water quality and promote a healthy environment.
  • Behavior: L240 Plecos are predominantly nocturnal, so it's normal for them to be more active during the evening hours. They have a fascinating habit of attaching themselves to surfaces using their specialized mouth structures.
