Product Description

Garra rufa (suitable for fish spa)

"Enhance your aquarium with the mesmerizing Garra Rufa, known as doctor fish, renowned for their gentle nibbling and stunning beauty."

Detailed Description:

Introducing the Garra Rufa, also known as doctor fish, a fascinating addition to any aquarium. These unique creatures have gained popularity for their distinctive feeding behavior and stunning appearance. With their gentle nibbling and eye-catching presence, Garra Rufa fish provide both entertainment and aesthetic value to your aquatic environment. In this detailed description, we will explore the optimal water conditions, compatible tank mates, feeding habits, and care guidelines to ensure a healthy and thriving Garra Rufa aquarium.

Water Conditions:

✦Temperature: Maintain the water temperature between 75°F and 82°F (24°C to 28°C) for optimal Garra Rufa health.

✦pH Level: Keep the pH level in the range of 6.5 to 8.5 to mimic their natural habitat.

✦Water Hardness: The ideal water hardness for Garra Rufa is between 5 to 15 dGH.

✦Filtration: Employ a reliable filtration system to maintain water clarity and remove any waste or debris.

Tank Mates:

✦Choose tank mates carefully to ensure compatibility and minimize aggression. Ideal companions for ✦Garra Rufa include peaceful and non-aggressive species such as danios, tetras, guppies, and other small community fish.

✦Avoid housing Garra Rufa with fin-nipping or larger, aggressive fish as it may result in stress or injury.

Feeding Habits:

✦Garra Rufa are omnivorous, but their primary source of nutrition comes from consuming dead skin cells and tiny aquatic organisms.

✦In the absence of sufficient natural food sources, supplement their diet with high-quality flake or pellet foods specifically formulated for tropical fish.

✦Offer occasional live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia to provide enrichment and variation.

Care Guidelines:

✦Tank Size: Provide a spacious aquarium with a minimum size of 20 gallons (75 liters) to accommodate a small group of Garra Rufa. A larger tank will allow for better swimming space and enhance their overall well-being.

✦Decoration: Incorporate plenty of hiding places and ample swimming space by using rocks, driftwood, and live plants. Garra Rufa appreciate natural environments that mimic their native habitats.

✦Lighting: Use a moderate lighting setup, preferably with dimmed or subdued lighting, as Garra Rufa are not fond of intense brightness.

✦Water Quality: Regularly monitor water parameters using test kits and conduct routine water changes to maintain excellent water quality. Aim for a bi-weekly water change of 10-20% to prevent the accumulation of harmful substances.

✦Acclimation: When introducing Garra Rufa to your aquarium, ensure a gradual acclimation process by slowly adjusting the water parameters to match their existing environment. This process helps minimize stress and promotes a smooth transition.

By following these guidelines, you can create a thriving aquarium environment for your Garra Rufa. Their unique feeding behavior and captivating appearance make them a delightful addition to any aquatic enthusiast's collection. Enjoy the soothing presence of these doctor fish as they mesmerize you and your guests with their gentle nibbling and elegant beauty.
