Product Description

Endler Red Scarlet: a vivid nano fish with fiery red-orange tones, ideal for planted aquariums. Peaceful, hardy, and a fascinating breeder for any aquarist.

  • Origin & Description: The Endler Red Scarlet is a stunning colour morph of Poecilia wingei, native to the freshwater lagoons and streams of Venezuela. This micro-sized livebearer rarely exceeds 2–3 cm in length, making it one of the most compact and visually striking nano fish available. The male displays an intense scarlet-red body overlaid with shimmering iridescent blue, green, and gold speckles, while the caudal fin carries bold black and orange markings. Females are larger, more subdued in colouration, and possess a rounded gravid spot near the vent. Their small size, vibrant colouration, and active darting behaviour make them a spectacular centrepiece for nano and planted aquariums alike.
  • Water Conditions: Endler Red Scarlet thrives in warm, well-filtered freshwater. Maintain a stable water temperature between 24–28°C (75–82°F) for optimal health and colour expression. The ideal pH range is 6.8–8.0, with a general hardness (GH) of 8–20 dGH and carbonate hardness (KH) of 5–15 dKH. These fish are remarkably adaptable but prefer clean, oxygen-rich water. Weekly water changes of 25–30% are recommended to keep nitrate levels below 20 ppm. They appreciate moderate water flow, which mimics the gentle currents of their natural habitat. Avoid sudden parameter swings, as these can trigger stress and suppress their vibrant colouration.
  • Tank Mates: Endler Red Scarlets are peaceful, sociable fish that do best in small groups of 6 or more. Ideal tank mates include other nano livebearers, small tetras (such as ember tetras or green neons), dwarf rasboras (like chili or galaxy rasboras), pygmy corydoras, otocinclus catfish, and dwarf shrimp (Neocaridina and Caridina species). Avoid large or aggressive species such as barbs, cichlids, or gold
