Product Description

Among low-pH waters, a blonde-yellow mosaic drifts—peaceful, tiny, quietly luminous.

The Blonde Yellow Mozaik Guppy is a peaceful, low-pH loving livebearer that adds vibrant yellow mosaic patterns to planted aquariums. Ideal for nano tanks too.

  • Water Conditions: The Blonde Yellow Mozaik Guppy thrives in soft, slightly acidic to neutral water. Aim for a pH between 6.0 and 7.5, with 6.5–7.0 being ideal. This strain is specifically noted for low pH tolerance, so avoid hard, alkaline water. Temperature should be stable between 22°C and 28°C (72–82°F). Water hardness (dGH) of 2–15 is suitable, but softer water is preferred. Maintain excellent water quality with a gentle filter—sponge filters or hang-on-back with low flow are ideal. Perform 20–30% water changes weekly, using dechlorinated water at matching temperature. Adding Indian almond leaves, driftwood, or peat moss can naturally lower pH and release tannins that benefit this fish. Avoid sudden pH swings; stability is more important than a specific number. Ammonia and nitrite must be zero, nitrate below 20 ppm. A cycled, well-established tank is essential.
  • Suitable Tank Mates: Because they are peaceful and small (4–5 cm), Blonde Yellow Mozaik Guppies do best in a community aquarium with other calm, non-aggressive species. Ideal tank mates include other guppies, Endler’s livebearers, small tetras (e.g., neon, ember, cardinal), rasboras (harlequin, chili), corydoras catfish, otocinclus, and peaceful bottom dwellers like kuhli loaches. Avoid fin-nippers such as tiger barbs, serpae tetras, or large angelfish. Do not house with aggressive cichlids, large predatory fish, or known guppy fin nippers like bettas (especially males). While guppies can live with shrimp, they may eat shrimplets; adult cherry shrimp are usually safe. Snails like nerites or mystery snails are fine. Keep at least a trio (one male, two females) to reduce male harassment, or keep all males for a peaceful display. If keeping multiple males, provide plenty of hiding spots and visual barriers.
  • Feeding Habits: These guppies are omnivores with a preference for small, frequent meals. Offer a varied diet to maintain vibrant yellow mosaic coloration and overall health. High-quality micro pellets or crushed flake food should form the staple, but supplement with live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, and cyclops. Plant-based matter is beneficial—spirulina flakes or blanched zucchini can aid digestion. Feed 2–3 times daily, only as much as they consume in 1–2 minutes. Overfeeding leads to bloating, swim bladder issues, and poor water quality. Because they are surface and mid-water feeders, ensure food is small enough to swallow. A rotating diet prevents nutritional deficiencies. During breeding, increase frequency of live foods for conditioning. Remove uneaten food promptly to avoid ammonia spikes. Fasting one day per week can help cleanse their digestive system.
  • Care Requirements: Blonde Yellow Mozaik Guppies are relatively hardy but require consistent care. A minimum tank size of 20 litres (5 gallons) is acceptable for a trio, but 40 litres (10 gallons) or more is better for stable water parameters. Provide dense planting—both rooted and floating plants like hornwort, java moss, and water sprite—to offer hiding spots and natural foraging. A gentle filter and a heater with a thermostat are essential. Maintain a regular maintenance schedule: weekly water changes, gravel vacuuming, and filter rinsing in tank water. Monitor pH and temperature with reliable test kits. Because they are livebearers, females can store sperm and give birth every 4–6 weeks. If you wish to raise fry, separate pregnant females into a breeding trap or heavily planted tank. Fry are born large enough to eat crushed flakes and baby brine shrimp. Common health issues include fin rot, ich, and columnaris, often triggered by poor water quality or stress. Quarantine new fish for 2 weeks before adding to the main tank. With proper care, they live 2–3 years.
