Betta Iaspis sp. Api Api "Jade"

Meet Betta Iaspis sp. Api Api "Jade" — a jade-toned Betta that adds a bold, emerald glow to any freshwater setup. Formerly known as sp. Jade, this lineage carries the same striking coloration and confident presence that make Bettas a true centerpiece in home aquariums.

Why the Jade Betta stands out

• Vivid jade iridescence: Rich emerald hues on the body with graceful, shimmering fins that catch the eye from across the room.
• Distinct lineage: A unique Api Api origin lineage, offering a rare color-forward look that’s easy to recognize and adore.
• Compact drama: A striking focal point for smaller tanks or as the star of a larger display—no clutter needed to impress.

Care & habitat tips

• Tank size: 5 gallons minimum for a single Betta; larger volumes provide more stability and room to explore.
• Water temperature: Maintain a tropical range of 76–80°F (24–27°C) for optimal health and color.
• Water quality: Gentle filtration and consistent weekly maintenance keep the jade hues vivid and the Betta comfortable.
• Tank setup: Use soft décor and live or silk plants to create hiding spots and reduce stress; avoid sharp decorations that could injure fins.
• Behavior & tank mates: Best kept solo or with carefully chosen, non-nippy species in a larger tank to preserve fins and color.

Diet and feeding guidance

• Primary diet: High-quality Betta pellets or flakes formulated for labyrinth fish.
• Supplemental options: Occasional live or frozen foods (such as daphnia, brine shrimp, or bloodworms) to enhance coloration and vitality.
• Feeding routine: Feed small portions 1–2 times daily; remove any uneaten food after a few minutes to maintain water quality.

Who this Betta is ideal for

• First-time hobbyists seeking a vivid, low-maintenance centerpiece that’s easy to care for with proper setup.
• Aquarists building a show-stop tank who want a distinctive jade color to anchor the display.
• Seasoned keepers looking to expand a collection with a rare Api Api lineage that offers a unique visual signature.

Practical insights for long-term satisfaction

• Stability is key: avoid sudden temperature shifts and abrupt water parameter changes to protect color intensity and overall health.
• Lighting matters: providing moderate lighting helps bring out the Jade’s iridescent sheen without stressing the fish.
• Observation pays off: watch for changes in fin condition, appetite, or activity, which can indicate water quality or health issues early.
