Product Description

A pale silver-red mosaic with a semi-aggressive streak in low-pH waters.

Albino Silverado Red Mozaik guppies add metallic silver-red mosaic colour and lively activity to low-pH aquariums. Semi-aggressive, 3–4cm, best in planted groups.

  • Water conditions: The Albino Silverado Red Mozaik is offered as a low-pH selection, so stability matters more than chasing an extreme number. Aim for a steady pH around 6.5–7.0, and avoid letting it swing sharply during water changes or acclimation. Keep temperature between 22–26°C, with moderate hardness around 5–12 dGH, and maintain excellent water quality: 0 ppm ammonia and nitrite, and nitrate below 20 ppm. Use a gentle filter flow and a mature, well-cycled aquarium. Because this line is semi-aggressive and active, provide plenty of oxygen and surface movement without creating a strong current. Test pH, KH and temperature regularly, and top off evaporation with dechlorinated water rather than hard tap water if your goal is a stable low-pH environment. A planted tank with floating cover helps buffer light and gives fish security. Drip-acclimatise carefully, especially if your water differs from the supplier’s, and never rush pH adjustment.
  • Suitable tank mates: Choose tank mates that can handle similar low-pH, soft-to-moderate water and will not be overwhelmed by lively, semi-aggressive behaviour. Good options include small peaceful tetras such as ember or green neon tetras, chili rasboras, corydoras catfish, otocinclus, kuhli loaches and other compact community fish that tolerate acidic-to-neutral conditions. Keep this Mozaik in groups, with two or three females per male where possible, to spread male attention and reduce sparring. Avoid long-finned fish such as bettas or fancy guppies with heavy tails, as they may be nipped. Also avoid fin-nippers, large or territorial cichlids, goldfish, aggressive barbs and bigger livebearers. Cherry shrimp and small snails may be at risk, especially from juveniles, so treat them as optional and monitor closely. A well-planted tank with broken sightlines helps reduce aggression and gives subordinate fish places to retreat.
  • Feeding habits: This fish is an omnivore with a small mouth and a fast metabolism. Feed a varied diet of high-quality micro pellets, crushed flake, and small live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops and sparing amounts of bloodworm. Include spirulina or vegetable-based flake to support digestion and colour. Feed two to three small portions daily, only what the group can clear in a few minutes, and remove uneaten food to protect water quality. Because low-pH systems can be less forgiving of organic waste, avoid overfeeding and siphon debris during weekly maintenance. Rotate foods rather than relying on a single flake, and soak dry foods briefly if fish seem to gulp air. Condition females with extra live food before breeding, but keep portions controlled. Healthy feeding supports the metallic silver-red mosaic colour and steady growth in juveniles.
  • Care requirements: Quarantine new arrivals before adding them to a display tank, then drip-acclimatise slowly. Provide a mature aquarium of at least 40–60 litres for a small group, with gentle filtration, a lid and plenty of plants, including floating species for cover and dimmed lighting that shows off the albino silver-red pattern. Perform 20–30% water changes weekly, matching temperature and pH closely, and clean filter media gently in tank water. Monitor males for chasing, split fins or stress, and separate or rehome fish if aggression persists. Keep a tight lid because this active line can jump. Test pH and KH regularly, and avoid large pH adjustments; stability is key. If breeding, provide cover for fry and expect livebearer-style reproduction. With consistent water quality, careful tank mates and a varied diet, the Albino Silverado Red Mozaik is a striking, active addition to a low-pH community or species setup.
