Mosura Shrimp (Pure red line mosura 1cm)

The Pure Red Line (PRL) Mosura Shrimp is a high-grade Caridina shrimp variety, prized by aquascapers and shrimp hobbyists worldwide for its intense white body contrasted with bold red markings, often forming a unique “mask” pattern on the head. At 1 cm in size, these juveniles grow into stunning adults, becoming the highlight of planted tanks and nano aquascapes.

Originating from selective breeding of Crystal Red Shrimp, PRL Mosura shrimps are renowned for their pure lineage, vibrant color stability, and refined patterns, making them a favorite in the ornamental shrimp-keeping community.

Care Guide for Pure Red Line Mosura Shrimp

✅ Tank Requirements

• Minimum Tank Size: 10 liters (2.5 gallons) for small colonies

• Aquascape: Heavily planted aquariums with moss, driftwood, and hiding spots

• Substrate: Active soil to maintain slightly acidic pH

• Filtration: Sponge or gentle filter to prevent shrimp injury

• Lighting: Moderate to encourage plant and biofilm growth

• Lid Required: Prevent shrimp from escaping

✅ Water Parameters

• Temperature: 20°C – 24°C (68°F – 75°F)

• pH Level: 5.5 – 6.5

• GH (General Hardness): 4 – 6

• KH (Carbonate Hardness): 0 – 1

• TDS: 100 – 150 ppm

• Water Changes: Small, frequent changes (10–15% weekly) with remineralized RO water

Stable, clean water is crucial as PRL Mosura Shrimp are sensitive to sudden parameter changes.

✅ Feeding Habits

PRL Mosura Shrimp are omnivorous scavengers, thriving on biofilm and supplemental feeding.

• Recommended Diet:

  • High-quality shrimp pellets and granules

  • Blanched vegetables (spinach, zucchini)

  • Algae wafers and natural biofilm

  • Protein-based foods (once weekly) to support growth

Feed small amounts 3–4 times weekly to avoid overfeeding and ammonia spikes.

✅ Tank Mates

Best kept in species-only tanks or with very peaceful, small species.

Compatible Tank Mates:

• Other Caridina shrimp varieties (with matching water parameters)

• Snails (Nerite, Mystery)

• Nano fish (e.g., Ember Tetra) – with caution

Avoid aggressive or predatory fish, as shrimp can be easily hunted.

✅ Behavior & Breeding

• Behavior: Peaceful, active grazers that clean surfaces and plants

• Breeding: Requires stable water; females carry eggs under abdomen for 30 days before hatching

• Tip: Keep shrimp-only tanks for higher survival rates of baby shrimp
