The Vampire Crab, also known as the Miniature Crab or Geosesarma dennerle, is a small and colorful freshwater crab species native to Indonesia. They are named for their unique appearance, with dark, almost black claws and a bright red body resembling that of a vampire. Vampire crabs are popular among aquarists due to their unique coloration and small size, making them a great addition to nano aquariums. They require a fully aquatic environment with access to both land and water. A well-planted aquarium with a temperature range of 72-82°F and a pH between 6.5-7.5 is ideal for their survival. These omnivorous crabs should be fed a varied diet of protein-rich foods, including live or frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms, and pellets. With proper care, Vampire Crabs can live up to 2-3 years.
