The Protomelas sp. "Taiwan Reef" is a stunning, yet-to-be-scientifically-named cichlid from Lake Malawi, known for its vibrant coloration and active behavior. Males exhibit a striking mix of electric blue on the face and body, fiery red or orange in the midsection and dorsal area, and a yellow blaze on the dorsal fin. Females are generally silver or gray with vertical bars and are less colorful. They are active swimmers that prefer open swimming areas and rocky structures for shelter.
