Common name: Tiger knifefish, Macana tigre. Scientific name: Gymnotus tigre. Origin: Mainly Colombia. The type specimen was collected in the Amazon at Letitia, but it's also found in the Amazon in Peru and Brazil, in the Rio Tapajos in Brazil and from Ecuador's Rio Pastaza.
✦ To care for Gymnotus tigre (Tiger Knifefish), set up a spacious aquarium of at least 75 gallons.
✦Maintain the water temperature between 75-82°F (24-28°C) and pH level around 6.0-7.5.
✦Use a sandy substrate and provide hiding places using caves, rocks, and driftwood.
✦ Provide low lighting and minimal water flow. Feed them a varied diet of live or frozen foods, such as worms and small fish.
✦Monitor water quality, ensure good filtration, and perform regular water changes.
✦ Keep them as the sole predator in the tank.
