  1. Species and Origin: The Golden Ram is a color morph of the Blue Ram (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi), which is native to the Orinoco River basin in South America.

  2. Appearance: The Golden Ram has a yellow or gold coloration, often with a slight iridescence. Like the standard Blue Ram, they have a compact and laterally compressed body shape, making them visually appealing in aquariums.

  3. Habitat: In the wild, Blue Rams inhabit slow-moving, warm waters with dense vegetation, submerged branches, and roots. In captivity, Golden Rams prefer well-planted aquariums with hiding spots.

  4. Tank Requirements: Golden Rams require stable water conditions. Maintain a temperature between 78-85°F (25-29°C) and keep the pH slightly acidic to neutral. A tank size of at least 20 gallons is recommended for a pair.

  5. Diet: Like other Rams, Golden Rams are omnivores. Feed them a balanced diet that includes high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.

  6. Behavior: Golden Rams are generally peaceful but can become territorial, especially during breeding. It's advisable to keep them in pairs and provide hiding spots and visual barriers to reduce aggression.

  7. Breeding: Breeding Golden Rams can be achieved in a well-maintained aquarium. Provide flat surfaces for egg laying, and the parents will usually care for their fry. A separate breeding tank can increase the survival rate of the offspring.
