Recommended Tankmates

Choose small, peaceful species that inhabit different areas of the aquarium to minimize competition. 

Bottom Dwellers: Corydoras Catfish are ideal as they scavenge the substrate and are too gentle to bother the guppies.

Schooling Fish: Small, non-nipping fish like Neon Tetras or Harlequin Rasboras are suitable, as they typically stay in the mid-water column.

Invertebrates: Amano Shrimp or Nerite Snails provide excellent algae control without any risk of fin nipping.

Avoid: High-energy or aggressive species like Tiger Barbs or large Cichlids, which may see the guppies' large fins as targets for nipping. 

Tank Setup & Parameters

Tank Size: A 10-gallon (38-liter) aquarium is the minimum recommended for a small group or a single breeding pair.

Water Conditions: According to AquaTropics, these fish thrive in temperatures between 75–82°F (24–28°C) and a slightly alkaline pH of 6.8–7.8.

Filtration: A sponge filter is highly recommended. Dumbo guppies are not strong swimmers due to their heavy fins and prefer gentle water flow to prevent exhaustion.

Aquascaping: Use soft sand or fine gravel to prevent irritation. Include dense live plants like Java Moss or Anubias to provide natural hiding spots and security.
