2C. brevirostris was described from an aquarium specimen apparently exported from the Río Orinoco drainage in Venezuela, and its wider distribution is somewhat vague, usually being given as the Orinoco system plus unnamed coastal rivers in Suriname

✦thrive in a tank of at least 20 gallons. Maintain a water temperature between 72-78°F (22-26°C) and a pH level of 6.0-7.5. Provide a sandy substrate and ample hiding places like caves and plants. Feed them a varied diet of sinking pellets, freeze-dried or frozen foods. Regular water changes and efficient filtration are important for water quality. Keep them in groups of at least six for optimal social behavior. Monitor their behavior and health for any signs of stress or disease.
