The Red Congo Puffer, or Tetraodon miurus, is a freshwater pufferfish native to the Congo River basin in Africa. They have a striking appearance, with a bright red-orange coloration, dark spots, and a distinctive rounded body shape. Red Congo Puffers require a pH level between 7.0-8.0 and a temperature range of 76-82°F. They are carnivores and require a varied diet consisting of snails, shrimp, and other small invertebrates. These fish are known for their aggressive behavior and should be kept in a species-only tank or with other fish that are too large to be seen as prey. Red Congo Puffers can also be sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes and maintenance are important for their health. With proper care, Red Congo Puffers can live for several years in captivity.
