The Chinese Phoenix Barb is a commonly farmed fish in Southern China and Northern Vietnam, where they are considered an important food fish. Although dull as juveniles, they develop into very impressive adults, displaying deep reds in the fins and a high contrast black-and-silver pattern on the body.
