The Avatar HMPK is a captivating and eye-catching variant of the Halfmoon Plakat Betta (Betta splendens). Known for their striking appearance and majestic fins, Avatar HMPK Bettas are named after the famous movie "Avatar" due to their vibrant and iridescent colors, resembling the fantastical creatures from the movie. These Bettas have been selectively bred for their unique and mesmerizing patterns, making them a popular choice among Betta enthusiasts.

Appearance:

  • Finnage: The Avatar HMPK is characterized by its short and straight-edged caudal (tail) fin, which distinguishes it from the long and flowing fins of traditional Halfmoon Bettas. Its pectoral fins are also shorter and less elaborate.
  • Colors: Avatar HMPK Bettas can showcase a wide range of colors, including vibrant blues, greens, reds, and metallic shades. The colors often have an iridescent or metallic sheen, enhancing their otherworldly appearance.

Water Conditions:

  • Temperature: Maintain a stable water temperature between 78°F and 82°F (25°C to 28°C) for the well-being of Avatar HMPK Bettas.
  • pH Level: Aim for a slightly acidic to neutral pH level between 6.5 and 7.5 to replicate their optimal living conditions.
  • Water Hardness: Provide moderately soft to moderately hard water with a hardness level between 5 and 15 dGH.

Tank Setup:

  • Tank Size: A tank of at least 5 gallons (19 liters) is recommended for a single Avatar HMPK Betta, providing ample space for them to swim and explore.
  • Filtration: Ensure proper filtration and regular water changes to maintain excellent water quality.

Feeding Habit:

  • Carnivorous Diet: Avatar HMPK Bettas are carnivores and require a protein-rich diet.
  • High-Quality Pellets and Flakes: Offer high-quality Betta pellets or flakes as their primary diet.
  • Supplementary Foods: Supplement their diet with occasional treats of live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia to provide added variety and nutrition.

Behavior:

  • Solitary Nature: Betta fish are territorial and typically prefer to be kept alone, especially male Bettas.
  • Aggression: Male Bettas can be aggressive towards other male Bettas, especially if they perceive them as intruders in their territory.

Care:

  • Tank Mates: Avoid keeping multiple male Bettas together in the same tank to prevent aggression. Consider peaceful tank mates such as small, non-nippy community fish or snails for a Betta community tank.
