Aulonocara is a genus of haplochromine cichlids endemic to Lake Malawi
in East Africa. All Aulonocara species are maternal mouth brooders.
Particularly in the aquarium hobby, Aulonocara species are also known as
peacock cichlids, aulonocaras or simply "peacocks".
✦Tank Size : at least 30 gallons for a small group of Aulonocara. Use sand or fine gravel substrate and include rocks or caves to mimic their natural habitat.
✦Water temperature : 76-82°F (24-28°C)
✦ pH range of 7.8-8.6.
✦high-quality pellets or flakes specifically formulated for cichlids. Supplement their diet with occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms.
