Paradise fish (Macropodus opercularis) are a freshwater species belonging to the Osphronemidae family. They are a type of gourami so they are also known as paradise gourami.

They’re native to Asia, ranging across Pakistan, India, Taiwan and upwards towards Korea. Here you can find them in most bodies of freshwater.

✦least 20 gallons with a temperature range of 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH of 6.5-8.0. 

✦Provide a well-planted tank with open swimming space. 

✦Feed them a varied diet of high-quality flakes, small pellets, and live or frozen foods. 

✦Maintain good water quality with regular water changes (25% weekly). 

✦They are territorial, so keep them with compatible tank mates. 

✦Monitor their behavior and water parameters regularly.
