They are also known as the pretty tetra, garnet tetra or black wedge tetra. In the wild, the species is found near Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon, and probably also in Brazil and Colombia. the peaceful nature of this species makes it an excellent choice for the community tank. The Pretty Tetra is a captive bred species which usually makes for a more hardy and adaptable fish. For this reason, it’s also an excellent choice for the newcomer to fish keeping.
