A 10–20 gallon tank is ideal, allowing for a small colony or a community setup. 

Tank Setup & Environment

Plants & Decor: Use live plants like Java Moss, Anubias, or Amazon Sword to provide hiding spots, especially for fry, and to create a natural aesthetic that makes the gold colours pop.

Water Conditions: Maintain temperatures between 76–78°F (24–25°C) and a pH of 7.0–8.0.

Filtration: A sponge filter is recommended to prevent the strong current from stressing the fish and to protect young, imported fry.

Substrate: Dark substrate helps emphasize the bright 24k gold coloration. 

Compatible Tank Mates

 24k Gold Guppies are often high-value, they are best kept with small, peaceful species that will not fin-nip or outcompete them for food. 

Bottom Dwellers: Corydoras catfish (like Panda or Pygmy Cory's) or Kuhli Loaches are excellent choices.

Shrimp & Snails: Cherry shrimp or Amano shrimp and Nerite snails are great for algae control and won't threaten the guppies.

Schooling Fish: Small tetras, such as Neon or Ember Tetras, or Harlequin Rasboras, make good tank mates.

Other Livebearers: Platyfish or Molly's are compatible, but beware of interbreeding if keeping mixed species.
