Product Details

D van Houten's NP-reducing BioPellets improves water quality, keeps aquarium water crystal-clear and clean. It stimulates a natural process called immobilization, whereby bio wastes such as nitrate and phosphate are quickly eliminated from the waters.

How to use NP-reducing BioPellets
NP-reducing BioPellets consists of biologically degradable polymers. The NP-reducing BioPellets are to be placed in a fluidized filter or filter canister.

We recommend using NP-reducing BioPellets with BioPellet nitrate reactors such as:
Omega I BioPellet Nitrate Reactor
Omega II BioPellet Nitrate Reactor

How NP-reducing BioPellets works
The pellets promotes aerobic growth of bacteria that biologically breaks down nitrate and phosphate. The bacteria obtains its carbon source from the BioPellets, whilst nitrogen and phosphorus are taken out of the water as nitrate and (ortho)phosphate.

This process results in formation of microbial biomass (immobilization). In addition, anaerobic layers will develop, resulting in additional denitrification.

Benefits
NP-reducing BioPellets stimulates and localises bacteria growth in a filter compartment, instead of triggering bacteria growth all over the aquarium under techniques that use Wodka or sugar as a carbon source. Any surplus of bacteria will removed by the filter, sponges, corals, or skimmed off by a protein skimmer.
Bacteria that grows on NP-reducing BioPellets will compete and retard the growth of cyanobacteria at the same time, reducing the colony of bad bacteria in your aquarium system.
Save time maintaining your aquarium as no daily dosages of carbon are required
