"Golden Balloon" Gourami, also known as the "Golden Honey" Gourami or the "Balloon" Gourami, is a selectively bred variant of the Three-spot Gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus). Here's some information about their lifestyle and care:

  1. Appearance: The Golden Balloon Gourami has a distinctive rounded body shape, which is the result of selective breeding. It has a bright golden-yellow coloration with iridescent scales that shimmer under aquarium lighting. The fins are typically elongated and flowing, adding to their elegant appearance.

  2. Size: Like other Gourami species, the Golden Balloon Gourami can grow up to around 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10 centimeters) in length.

  3. Temperament: Golden Balloon Gouramis are generally peaceful fish that can be kept in community aquariums. However, males may display territorial behavior towards each other, especially during breeding. They are compatible with other peaceful fish species that are not overly aggressive or fin-nipping.

  4. Tank Requirements: Provide a tank with plenty of space and hiding spots such as plants, driftwood, and caves. They prefer densely planted tanks with floating vegetation to simulate their natural habitat. Ensure the tank has a secure lid, as Gouramis are known to be proficient jumpers.

  5. Water Parameters: Golden Balloon Gouramis are adaptable to a wide range of water parameters. Maintain the water temperature between 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C) and a pH range of 6.0 to 8.0. They can tolerate slightly acidic to slightly alkaline water conditions.

  6. Diet: These Gouramis are omnivorous and will accept a variety of foods. Offer them a balanced diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. They may also nibble on algae and vegetation in the aquarium.

  7. Breeding: Golden Balloon Gouramis are bubble nest builders, and breeding them in captivity is possible with the right conditions. Provide a separate breeding tank with shallow water, floating plants, and a gentle filtration system. Males will construct a bubble nest at the water's surface, where they will entice females to spawn. After spawning, remove the female to prevent aggression from the male.

  8. Compatibility: Golden Balloon Gouramis are compatible with a variety of peaceful community fish species such as tetras, rasboras, livebearers, and Corydoras catfish. Avoid housing them with aggressive or overly territorial species that may stress them out.

Regular water changes, proper filtration, and a well-balanced diet are essential for maintaining the health and vibrancy of Golden Balloon Gouramis. With proper care, they can live for several years and provide enjoyment to aquarium hobbyists.
