Corydoras adolfoi, also known as the Adolfo's Cory or Adolfo's Catfish, is a species of small freshwater catfish belonging to the Corydoradinae subfamily. These fish are native to the Upper Orinoco River basin in Venezuela.

Adolfo's Cory is highly sought after by aquarium enthusiasts due to its striking appearance and peaceful nature. They have a distinctive black mask-like pattern over their eyes, contrasted by a bright gold body with black dots scattered across it. The fins are often transparent or lightly colored, adding to their attractiveness.

In terms of care, Corydoras adolfoi are relatively hardy and can adapt to a range of water parameters. However, they prefer soft to moderately hard water with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. They should be kept in small groups of at least 6 individuals, as they are social creatures that feel more secure in the presence of their own kind.

These catfish are bottom-dwellers and appreciate a substrate that is soft and smooth, such as sand or fine gravel, to sift through in search of food. They are omnivores and will accept a varied diet including high-quality sinking pellets, frozen or live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, and vegetable matter such as blanched vegetables or algae wafers.

In terms of tank setup, providing plenty of hiding places and cover in the form of plants, driftwood, and caves is essential to make them feel secure. They are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful fish species that won't outcompete them for food or harass them.

Breeding Corydoras adolfoi in captivity is possible but may require some effort. They are egg scatterers, meaning they deposit their eggs on various surfaces, often on the substrate or among plants. A separate breeding tank with soft, slightly acidic water and suitable spawning sites like flat rocks or spawning mops can encourage breeding behavior.

Overall, Corydoras adolfoi is a beautiful and peaceful species that can add interest to a freshwater community aquarium, especially for aquarists who appreciate their unique appearance and behavior.
